What is the Tech Radar?
The Fimple Tech Radar is a curated list of technologies, each evaluated and assigned a status known as a
ring assignment. These rings represent the maturity and suitability of technologies for use at Fimple:
-
ADOPT — Technologies that are well-proven, reliable, and scalable for our needs. These are actively used
in production at Fimple with low risk and are recommended for widespread adoption.
-
TRIAL — Technologies successfully applied in projects to solve real problems. These have shown promising
results but come with slightly more risk. Engineers with experience in these technologies can guide their use.
-
ASSESS — Promising technologies with clear potential value. These require research and prototyping to
determine their impact. While high-risk, they may present significant opportunities for innovation.
-
HOLD — Technologies not recommended for new projects. These may no longer align with our strategic goals
or lack sufficient benefits for further investment. They can, however, continue in existing projects if needed.

What is the purpose?
The Tech Radar helps Fimple's Engineering teams choose the best technologies for new projects. It serves as a
platform to:
- Share knowledge and experiences with various technologies.
- Reflect on technology decisions.
- Continuously evolve Fimple's technology landscape.
How do we maintain it?
The Tech Radar is managed by Principal Engineers, who lead technology selection discussions across
Fimple's Engineering Community. Key aspects include:
- Ring Assignments: Technologies are placed in rings through proposals that are discussed and voted on.
- Open Contributions: All Engineering teams can contribute by sharing lessons learned, identifying pitfalls,
and promoting best practices.
- Collaborative Effort: Active participation across teams ensures the radar remains a dynamic and valuable resource.
